Assessment and Millage

Assessment

In Chester County, taxes are based on the assessed value of your property. The township does not assess homes. This is done at the county level. Questions on this matter should be directed to the Chester County assessment office at (610) 344-6105. Appeals for reassessment must be made directly to the Chester County Board of Assessment.

Millage Rates

The township sets the tax rate, or millage, each year for land and dwelling. A fire hydrant fee is also charged if you have a fire hydrant within 780 feet of your property. This tax is included as a separate item in your bill, or may be billed separately.

Currently, the dwelling and/or land millage rate is 1.034. The hydrant millage rate is 0.087, making the total millage rate 1.121 for properties within 780 feet of a fire hydrant.
