Winter Weather Alert - UPDATE

Tuesday, February 2, 2021

The winter storm warning remains in effect until 4 PM today, Tuesday, February 2. Additional snow and winter storm winds are expected.

Conditions during tomorrow morning's commute are expected to be hazardous. Use caution when driving, and stay at least six car lengths back and away from snow plows. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, blankets, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Visit the National Weather Service for our region at weather.gov/phi for an up-to-date forecast.

Trash/Recycling Pickup Wednesday

This week’s Trash and Recycling will now be collected Township-wide on Wednesday, February 3. Due to inclement weather and the expanded collection area, delays into Thursday are expected; Please leave your Toter at the curb until collection is complete. The Township and hauler personnel appreciate your patience!  This week's yard waste collection has been cancelled.

Please wait to put your Toters at the curb until tonight to prevent interference with plowing. Make sure your Toter carts are upright and accessible at the curb.

Shoveling and Deicing Your Property

It is a property owner’s responsibility to maintain the walkways free of snow and ice.
Residents are reminded to clear their sidewalks or walkways no longer than 12 hours from the conclusion of a snow/ice event.

Shoveling can take a toll on your health! Dress warmly, take frequent breaks, and consult your doctor if you have a heart condition.

Keep our watersheds clean! Shovel before salting, and limit your use of chemical deicers to only highly trafficked areas.

Do not deposit snow (shovel and/or snow blower) into the roadway when clearing your driveway or sidewalks. The USPS would like to remind you to clear the snow from the front of your mailbox to facilitate mail delivery.

Report Outages to PECO

The wind in the forecast means that power outages are a possibility. Please call your electric provider (not 9-1-1) to report a power outage. To report downed power lines and outages to PECO, visit peco.com/outages or call 1-800-841-4141. View the PECO outage map at this link. Keep in mind that outages may also affect your phone and internet service.

To prepare for potential power outages, make sure your emergency kit is stocked with flashlights and extra batteries, as well as non-perishable food, water, and warm clothing. NEVER use portable generators indoors or attempt to heat your home with an oven or stove.

Street Parking Prohibited

There is no street parking permitted during winter weather events.

Residents are reminded to remove all vehicles from public roadways during a winter weather event – There is NO PARKING on the roadway during snow and ice events that require plowing and/or salting. Vehicles parked on the roadway interfere with plowing and salting operations and will be ticketed and/or towed.
