Upper Uwchlan Township Names Thomas "Tony" Scheivert as Township Manager

CHESTER SPRINGS, PA – The Upper Uwchlan Township Board of Supervisors is pleased to announce that Thomas “Tony” Scheivert has been selected as Upper Uwchlan Township’s next Township Manager. This appointment is made as the result of a thorough executive search process. Mr. Scheivert will replace former Township Manager Cary Vargo, who led Upper Uwchlan Township with more than a decade of dedicated service.  Mr. Scheivert will begin his employment on Monday, March 9, 2020 and will be formally sworn into the position at the March 10th Board of Supervisors Workshop. 

“After an extensive search where interest in the position was high and the field of candidates was competitive, the Board of Supervisors is pleased to have hired Mr. Scheivert to lead the organization.  We are fortunate to have found someone with his administrative, executive, and legislative experience.” said Sandy D’Amico, Board President. 

Mr. Scheivert has over 20 years of local government municipal management service. In his most recent position, he served as Township Manager with New Garden Township for the last 5 years. Prior to that he served as Assistant Township Manager for 10 years with Caln Township and was the Park and Recreation Director for Upper Southampton Township, as well as West Chester Borough. He has a strong background in management, finance, budgeting, collective bargaining, land use planning, and park and recreation programs. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Management and a Master of Public Administration. 

“Upper Uwchlan Township is a special place and I am honored that the Board of Supervisors has placed their trust and confidence in me as their next Township Manager. I am looking forward to working closely with the board, the staff, and residents of Upper Uwchlan,” said Tony Scheivert. 

On behalf of the Board of Supervisors, Board President Sandy D’Amico said, “Although, the Board was sad to see Cary leave, I believe Mr. Scheivert’s knowledge, abilities, experiences, and professionalism will serve our Township well. We look forward to working with Tony and welcome him to the Upper Uwchlan Township community.”
