Hickory Park Playground: Under Construction

Changes are coming to Hickory Park! After over a decade serving the children of our community, the playground equipment at Hickory Park is nearing the end its useful and safe life. In the 2018 budget, the Board of Supervisors allocated funds for a playground renovation and tasked the Park and Recreation Board with selecting new playground equipment.

At their July meeting, the Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of new playground equipment for Hickory Park. The new design will feature equipment from the Kompan Playground Company’s Robinia organic hardwood line. The equipment is slated for installation this fall, and will include a climbing wall, spinners, new swings, a double tower, as well as springers and boats for the youngest playground users. The new playground will encourage active and imaginative play for children of all ages.

The playground area will be closed beginning this week and for the duration of the renovation. Park users should keep clear of the playground and pavilion area during this time.
