Mission Statement

The mission of the Upper Uwchlan Township Police Department is to work in a true partnership with our fellow citizens to enhance the quality of life in our community. And, by raising the level of public safety through law enforcement, to reduce the fear and incidence of crime. In accomplishing these goals: service will be our commitment, honor and integrity our mandate.

The Upper Uwchlan Township Police Department provides police services twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to the community. The department responds to a variety of incidents throughout the year. The Chester County Department of Emergency Services Police Radio Room dispatches the police department. This radio room is centrally located in West Chester. When citizens need police services they need to utilize the telephone numbers of 911 for emergencies and 610.692.5100 for non-emergencies.

The police department operates from a facility located within the Upper Uwchlan Township Municipal Building located on Route 100 at Park Road. The police department public window is staffed Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm.

The police department provides a variety of emergency and non-emergency services. The department operates marked patrol cars, unmarked patrol cars and motorcycles within the community. Even though the department is primarily a uniform patrol force, it does have other resources to support this function. The department staffs a criminal investigation division with a detective. A full-time canine unit also supports patrol services. Technology has also enhanced the officer’s ability to respond to incidents within the community. Patrol Officers have the use of infrared devices for night patrol. The criminal investigation division has identification methods such as utilizing DNA and scientific crime scene processing equipment.

The department utilizes these resources to protect those who live, work and visit our community. It is our goal to ensure the safety of our citizens and enhance their quality of life.

This request form is utilized when requesting copies of an automobile accident, crime report, domestic incident or any other police department incident report. This form is to be completed by the requestor. If this form is not legible or not properly completed, it will not be processed. Before the issuance of any report, proof of identification must be provided. Those who are representatives of an organization shall provide proof of the organization they represent. All fees for records must be paid before the release of any reports.

Request for Criminal History

This form is used primarily for employment purposes. Applicants are usually making application to employers who require a criminal history check. Those who may be engaged in the adoption process of children also use this form. This form is to be completed by the requestor. If this form is not legible or not properly completed, it will not be processed. Before the issuance of any report, proof of identification must be provided. Those who are representatives of an organization shall provide proof of the organization they represent. All fees for records must be paid before the release of any reports.

Permit Request for Size, Wieght, and Load Movement

Any load that is moved upon township roadways that exceeds the weight limit or width restrictions must receive special permission to affect the move. This form is to be completed by the requestor. If this form is not legible or not properly completed, it will not be processed. The permittee shall bear the total costs of escorting the movement. The permittee shall be responsible for the costs of any damage that occurs during the movement of the permitted load to public and private property. All permittees must comply with Pa. Title 67 Chapter 179. The driver shall carry the permit in the permitted vehicle.

Police Department Ordinances

Under the authority granted to local government by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Townships are permitted to enact local ordinances. These ordinances are classified as non-traffic summary offenses. Some offenses may carry a penalty up to three hundred dollars ($300.00) in fines and up to ninety days (90) in the County Prison. Listed below are these ordinances and a brief description of what they are.

Ordinance 05-05 Regarding Fees for Township Services at Events
This ordinance mandates that those person(s) who may need township services for an event occurring in the Township. It mandates that those person(s) be required to bear the financial responsibility of any Township service utilized.

Ordinance 04-06 Snow Regulations
Establishes regulations for snow removal.

Ordinance 04-04 No Parking
Establishes No-Parking Zones within the Township and the penalties assessed.

Ordinance 98-03 Noise Ordinance
Establishes regulations for noise within the Township

Ordinance 95-3 Hazardous Materials Recovery
Mandates the cost of hazardous materials clean up be assessed to the person(s) causing the incident.

Ordinance 92-4 Solicitors Ordinance
Requires those who desire to solicit within the Township to obtain a permit from the Township Administrative Offices first.

Ordinance 89-5 Burning Ordinance
Establishes regulations for any form of outdoor burning. Person(s) who request to have an outdoor fire must secure a permit from the Township Administrative Offices first.

Ordinance 88-5 Mini-Bike, Motorcycle and Snow Mobile Ordinance Prohibits the operation of vehicles upon the property of another without the landowner’s written permission.
