Single Stream Recycling
Single-stream recycling is a process by which materials are collected in one container. No sorting is required by the resident. Recyclable containers should be rinsed clean, and cardboard should be flattened. Labels and lids may be left on.

To guarantee collection, place your Township-provided cart curbside the night before your scheduled collection day.

Unacceptable Materials
  • Aluminum foil and trays
  • Five-gallon buckets
  • Flower pots
  • Oil and transmission fluid
  • Packaging materials other than paper
  • Paper towels
  • Pesticides, cleaners, and chemicals
  • Plastic bags
  • Plate glass
  • Tissues
  • Window-tempered glass
Acceptable Materials
  • Aluminum beverage cans
  • Bi-metal (tin) cans
  • Bottles, cans, and jars
  • Corrugated cardboard boxes
  • Envelopes
  • Green, brown, and clear glass
  • Paperboard (cereal-type boxes)
  • Paper, newspapers, phone books, junk mail, and magazines
  • Plastic types 1-7 (label is found inside the triangle on the bottom of the container)

Why Recycle?
If you throw something away, it is no longer useful. It ends up in the landfill, is incinerated, or contaminates the environment in some other way. If you recycle something, it can be recovered and become material for a new product. Additionally, it does not go into the waste stream, which lessens the load on waste disposal costs.
